Occupy vandalizes Oakland again, calls for “class war”

For the second day in a row, Occupiers in the Bay Area conducted a disruptive march, last night causing damage to several businesses in Oakland.

On Saturday, 22 were arrested during a “Fuck Columbus” anti-colonialism anti capitalist march in San Francisco.  Around 3 pm in broad daylight, they threw paint bombs with rocks in them at cops and vandalized cars and businesses yesterday.  After several of the paint attacks, police made the arrests. Charges ranged from conspiracy to assault on a police officer.

Last night was billed as an “Afghan led” anti imperialist anti war protest, “Hoodies and Hijabs” march,  commemorating the start of the war in Afghanistan 11 years ago.  They started out around 7 pm with a few speeches in front of city hall, but then went on an hour run of vandalizing businesses in Oakland.  About 200 people marched through the downtown area smashing windows and throwing paint along the way.  According to KGO 810 News, they broke large plate glass windows of three banks along Franklin Street. Six windows were attacked at the Chase Bank on Franklin. Doors and windows of the City Hall were damaged, as was the AC Transit office and the police recruiting office. The group also broke windows at the Oakland Tribune.  KTVU noted several businesses were damaged including Kaiser Permanente and that cars were vandalized as well.

There were no arrests last night.

In a rambling statement posted on the Occupy Oakland website, the “Afghans for Peace” accuse US soldiers of atrocities and multiple instances of desecration of the ‘Holy Quran”. They also claim the military has “Kill teams”. They call for US soldiers to “go AWOL, refuse to fight and start a revolt amongst your ranks”. They closed their statement with “say no to all wars, except class war”.

Occupy anti colonial anti capitalist “F–k Columbus” march results in 22 arrests

Police arrested 22 people during an ‘anti colonial, anti capitalist” “F–k Columbus Day” march in San Francisco. The march, which was advertised over the traditional Bay Area Occupy hashtags on Twitter and streamed on Occupy livestream, is part of a weekend of activities which included a call for a march against Mexican, Canadian,  US embassies worldwide yesterday

The march today began from Justin Herman Plaza shortly before 3 and snaked through the financial district, disrupting traffic as they walked in the streets.  The marchers were attired as a black bloc, dressed in black and carrying black anarchist flags.

As they marched, they vandalized cars, slashing the tires of one car and breaking the window of another. They also smashed a Starbucks window.  About 15 minutes into the march, they began to throw flares and bags of paint with rocks in them at the police who were accompanying the march.

Updated video  We’ve updated the video showing clearer shots of the action. At around :40 you can see a female throwing something at the police following by flipping them off.  Something else is thrown at police at :51 causing one of the cops to have to wipe his eyes. At :54 you can see the paint bomb thrown against the building. 1;21 more paint thrown at police. and at 1:24 they hit a cop pretty hard and all over with a paint bomb. More is thrown at 2:02. Then at 2:06, a cop on bicycle appears to fall over or be knocked over, and is surrounded by marchers. That is when police move in and start making arrests.

You can still see full raw live stream recording here.

According to ABC News, a search of the arrested suspects’ backpacks revealed many were armed with weapons including:  hammers, an ice pick, flares, more bags of paint containing rocks, and other weapons.

The 22 people were arrested on one or more of the following charges: conspiracy, riot, refusing to obey a lawful order from a peace officer and resisting, delaying and obstructing a peace officer, and assault and battery on a peace officer.

The marchers posted their intentions on Indy Bay calling for a “rowdy march” through the financial district to fight colonialism and capitalism.  In addition they noted it was the 20th anniversary of the first black bloc march disrupting the Columbus Day parade in 1992.

Tomorrow, the group plans to march in Oakland commemorating the  11th anniversary of the start of the war in Afghanistan.  Their statement accuses the military of having “Kill teams”, American soldiers of atrocities and  “burning hundreds of copies of the Holy Quran”. It calls for American troops to rise up and “start a revolt in your ranks”.  They have also called elsewhere for “autonomous creative disruptions of the Columbus Day parade” tomorrow.

Occupy Smashy “FTP” march in the Mission District of San Francisco

Here is video from the attack on the Mission District on Friday night. In it you can see Occupiers  in black bloc, attacking the local police station and as well as other businesses. More on the story here. “FTP” stand for “F–k the Police”.

Occupy Oakland- the cult at the door

A couple of weeks ago, Citizen Journalist reported on Occupy and affiliated groups storming Obama campaign headquarters in Oakland, California, getting in a scuffle with staff there and having to be tossed out by the police. Six people were arrested.

CJ  has seen more video on the event and it is amazing that more were not arrested.

Here is a short video.  To set the moment, they were there allegedly protesting on behalf of Bradley Manning, the private who leaked classified information, and who is awaiting trial. The  police have ushered most out of the office and are trying to close the doors to prevent any others entering. They refuse to let go of the door claiming, “we are on the sidewalk, it is our free speech right”. The purpose? Goad police into hurting them so they can claim assault. Police with infinite patience, talk, cajole, handle with delicacy. Police apparently try to arrest/corral one person at one point; Occupiers “de-arrest” him.

Finally the police as gently as they could under the circumstances, remove Occupiers hands from the door. One cries, “I got that on tape at the end”.

There was no way they were getting in, yet they chant the whole time “Free  Bradley Manning”, cult-like and unreasoning, not seeing that there was no real point to what they were doing, that it would never go their way.

A window into the behavior of the cultist.

Occupy Oakland Organizer: Cop Killing Alleged Child Rapist is “Hero”

Today the glare of media was on politician Todd Akin and his comment about rape. Akin has said he misspoke and apologized for the comment. It seems likely he will have to withdraw from his political race.

Yet this MSM focus seems to vanish when it comes to things which the MSM eyes more favorably, such as Occupy.

Over this past weekend, Occupy Truth, a coming together of bloggers and ordinary citizens, shone a focus on the violence within Occupy that the MSM continues to ignore or cover poorly.   Occupy the Truth, held in Cleveland,  focused especially on the fact that the MSM continues to ignore the Occupy connection in the case of Occupiers arrested for planning to blow up the Cuyahoga  Bridge in Cleveland.

Occupy continues in its way with violence in discussion and approach, all the while being cast by MSM as “mostly peaceful”.

Occupy Oakland organizer Jessica Hollie (otherwise known as “Bella Eiko”) recently tweeted the following:

https://twitter.com/BellaEiko/status/237365164373065728

Just for background, “FTP” means “fuck the police” and “ACAB” means “All cops are bastards”. These are typical hashtags of Occupy along with “revolution” and “us revolution”.

You can see further fun moments with Bella Eiko here where she and other occupiers brings a city council meeting to chaos, and where Bella and others march on a councilwoman’s home, after Occupiers put out a “wanted” poster on the council woman.

Who is Lovelle Mixon?

Mr. Mixon is a man who killed four police officers on March 21, 2009.   The police have also linked him to three sexual assaults. Included among the sexual assaults is the assault at gunpoint of a 12 year old girl. More back ground on Mixon here.

The article that Ms. Hollie cites appears to justify or at least excuse Mixon’s actions because he had difficulty finding a job after he got out of prison and had a parole officer who cancelled appointments on him.

Ms. Hollie’s statement is not a misstatement, not taken out of context. It is, sadly, apparently, what she truly believes.

When your vision gets that narrow in pursuit of your cause, it may be time to hang it up.  “God bless them”-Nancy Pelosi.

Occupy Oakland seizes building to create “people’s library” (updated: police break up the party)

Around 7 am this morning, Occupy Oakland took over another building, this one at 1449 Miller Avenue in East Oakland, California.

About a dozen people went into the building and claimed to be setting up a library.   They brought in books and set up a banner proclaiming it the “Victor Martinez People’s Library”.

The building is owned by City of Oakland’s Redevelopment Successor Agency within the Office of Neighborhood Investment.  It used to be a library at one point but has been empty for a number of years.  In an email Monday, an agency spokesman said the city would issue a dispersal order with a set time to vacate the property.

Some of the squatters said that the goal is to use it for community purposes.   “All we ask is that you consider keeping it out of the hands of a city which will only seal the fence and doors again, turning the space back into an aggregator of the city’s trash and a dark hole in the middle of the community,” according to the group’s news release, aimed at residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Books already brought in include such fun and uplifting child oriented reading material such as “The Black Panthers” and “Academic Repression” a collection of essays with an anarchist orientation. Got to start that indoctrination early!

UPDATE:

Police came in in the early morning and boarded up the front where the building had been broken into. Occupy Oakland claims not to know how the doors became unlocked and were furious this morning at the police reclaiming the building.

Yes, after Occupy Oakland broke into the building, they brought kids in to work on garden beds in the back of the library. These are some of the books they were bringing in for the kids to read:

In case you didn’t know-“Matanza” is it is a book on the communist revolt in El Salvador in 1932, “Mexico Profundo” – on indigenous resistance within Mexico, “Harvest of Empire” is, according to Amazon review, a “left leaning” look at Hispanic immigration in the United States.

Occupy smashy: Hope and Change-not so much

Here is a highly edited video from Occupy Oakland of their attack on the Obama HQs, with accompanying taunt and dance party.

In addition to the attack on the headquarters, they also tore down fences at 19th and Telegraph, and attacked cars, smashing windshields.

Most of the people in the video are not Occupiers, but surrounding people attending an art street festival. The Occupiers are often dressed in black bloc attire on this video.

Attributing this action and the smashing of the windows to the subgroup calling itself,  “East Bay Uncontrollables”,  Occupy Oakland said:

“The East Bay Uncontrollables said the attacks were designed to protest a Seattle grand jury’s investigation into vandalism during May Day protests, “and to continue our struggle against the forces of the State and Capital at home.”

At ~1:20 you can see them destroying the fence, then they attack the office:

In another communication released by Occupy, they gave the following rationale, objecting to permit requirements related to the art festival, Art Murmur:

We refuse to surrender our space. We want to encourage the organic and rebellious elements of Art Murmur[the street art festival]  to flourish. We are here to exercise a vision of a liberated city full of free art, free music, free culture, free expression, and free streets.

We are spontaneous, insurgent, uncontrollable.
These are our streets, and we are here to take them.
FTP! FUCK THE PERMITS! FUCK THE POLICE!

A storm is coming…

An Art Murmur organizer expressed concern that such actions could tarnish the otherwise peaceful art festival.

The same subgroup of Occupy claimed responsibility for attacking police cars by pouring glass etching fluid on the windshields of two unmarked police cars outside a police recruitment center in Frank Ogawa Plaza, slashing the tires on one vehicle, grafittiing the outside of the station and splashing poisonous hydroflouric acid across the center’s windows.

4 Arrested in Anaheim

Four were arrested today in Anaheim, California in protests against the Anaheim police department because of officer involved shootings.

At least three of the four were from out of the area- from Escondido, San Diego and San Bernardino.

There were about 50 locals from Anaheim, who called themselves “We are Anaheim”. They kept away from the other protesters who included many from out of the area including people from Occupy Oakland, Anonymous, Answer LA, the PSL (Party for Socialism and LIberation), Socialist Workers Party and the Communist Party. There were at least three “Che” flags flying in front of the police station.

Occupy puts out “wanted” poster on council woman, marches on her home with a pitchfork (updated new video)

Oakland city council member Patricia Kernighan was concerned about public safety.

She was particularly concerned about the turmoil and disruption that Occupy brought to Oakland. So she proposed an ordinance that would outlaw bringing to demonstrations some of the common “tools of violence” that Occupiers frequently used, such as impact-resistant shields, hammers, aerosol cans, pressurized paint sprayers, paint projectiles, and fire accelerants—all of which have been deployed by Occupy Oakland.

The ordinance came up for a vote on May 22.  Occupiers packed the meeting with about 40 people and spent almost 2 hours cursing and yelling at Kernighan and other council members.

Alan Kurtz at All Voices captures the mood:

Unquestionably the chief crazy that night was 28-year-old college student and Occupier Jessica Hollie, better known by her Twitter handle Bella Eiko. Bella is Occupy Oakland’s LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device)—a formidable sonic weapon. Her hopping-mad, expletive-crammed 14 minute harangue spewed personal invective at Chairwoman Kernighan. “You are on yo’ knees serving capitalism,” Bella sneered.

She also lambasted the American flag, which Occupy Oakland routinely burns in protest. “The Supreme Court,” according to Bella, “said it’s a perfectly protected form of self expression to burn that piece of shit that don’t represent nothing except imperialism and f***ing oppression.”

But it was the shields that really sent Bella ballistic. Having strategically placed her own makeshift shield (a Rubbermaid 32-gal trash can cut in half) in front of the lectern, Bella blustered: “If you take our shields, the only thing left is our Second Amendment right! So when we shoot back, I want you to holler ‘Safety!'” This drew raucous cheers from the Occupiers.

The next speaker was a sinister calm after Hurricane Bella. “I want to tell you, Pat Kernighan,” said gray haired Occupier Stephanie Demos, “that I could walk up to you and kill you with a f***ing pencil. Are you going to outlaw pencils?” This grisly image amused the Occupiers.

After those speakers, there seemed to be a calmer speaker who rose to speak against the disruptive behavior. That man, Vincent Suave, a 26 year resident was shouted down and threatened on the council floor. One Occupier grabbed the mike from him and told him “You can’t talk”, another walked up to him and told him, “You wouldn’t make it home”.

The meeting was called, and Kernighan and Suave had to have a police escort as the meeting dissolved into chaos.

If you have a strong stomach for public meeting hell and a descent into bedlam, here is a video that captures the insanity: (language warning)

The Occupiers apparently were not happy with turning the meeting into circus. They still were unhappy with Patricia Kernighan.

So they put out a wanted poster on her, advertising a rally and march at which they urged members to bring their favorite “tool of violence”.  Shades of the alleged target on Gabby Giffords:

According to Kurtz, on June 11, around 40 people actually marched on Kernighan’s home, at least one person carrying a pitchfork, and rang her bell. Kernighan apparently wasn’t home. This seemed to stymie the Occupiers. So they made speeches to themselves, burned an American flag, sang “fuck you America”,  and then walked dejectedly home again.

Occupiers rampage through the Bank of the West in Oakland

Occupiers veer off in a clearly organized May Day attack. Notice not only the organized destruction but the organized camera making sure the “attack” on the evil bank is properly recorded. Also the one brave employee lady who tells them to “get out”:

Occupy the Bay Area: “We Revolt for a life worth living!”

Thought you might like to see some of the “New Propaganda for M1GS” that Occupy the Bay Area is putting out.  “M1GS” is an abbreviation for May 1 General Strike. If you think it was a play on “MIGS”, that was not unintentional, or without purpose.  They want to do away with capitalism. And bosses. And work. In fact, they revolt for “a life worth living”.  If you will not give them what they want, they are telling you that they will take it.
