More boycott fail coming…
Ah, Irony.
Occupy Tampa is trying to organize a “Shut Down Bain Capital” protest for the next three Sundays, leading into Mitt Romney accepting the nomination for President on August 30.
Why are they disturbed with Bain?
“Mitt Romney co-founded Bain Capital. The corporation took part in many “hostile takeovers,” a practice that involves buying a company in order to simply lay off the workers, close the company and sell it for spare parts”.
So because Bain buys companies and shuts them down, Occupy has printed a list of alleged Bain-owned companies to protest and -well- shut down.
Does anyone see the irony there?
Many companies are targeted, including Outback, Toys R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Dunkin Donuts.
In the process of calling for this “shutdown”, Occupy Tampa has an etherpad where they are asking for people to contribute with suggestions as to what actions they can take. So far, suggestions include not paying bills at Bain-owned restaurants and “mic checking” to try to get other people to do the same.
If you would like to add your own suggestion to the etherpad, here it is.
Occupy has been moribund, casting about for issues and actions upon which they can hook their star to get interest. They’ve careened between ambulance chasing “officer involved shootings” to this.
It is likely that this call will be as successful as was the call from Occupy Portland in February to “Shut Down the Corporations”. That seems not to have shut down a single corporation.

I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I?

Only you can really determine that, because you have the freedom to do so.
Only you will determine if you are fixated on attacking, or on contributing and building to help society, rather than tear it down.
I wish you much happiness and joy in your endeavors.
