NATO terrorist suspects’ background includes Occupy, arrests, talk of revolution and post by one that cops should be executed

Brian Church, Jared Chase, Brent Betterly

Early this morning, police in Chicago announced the arrest of Brian Church, 20, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida;  Brent Betterly, 24, of Oakland Park, Massachusetts,  and Jared Chase, of Keene, New Hampshire. The three were arrested two days ago when police raided a Chicago apartment where Occupiers were staying to protest the NATO summit.  The three were charged stemming from allegations that they tried to make Molotov cocktails for the NATO summit.

Chicago police announced that  the men are charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism, possession of an explosive or incendiary device, and providing material support. There is a bond hearing for the men today.

Jared Chase’s Facebook reveals that he has spent the past several months at multiple Occupy protests including Rhode Island, Baltimore, Washington, D.C.,  and Boston. He was previously arrested as part of Occupy Miami and protesting at the White House.   He lists his “political views” as “constitutional revolutionary”, is “inspired by” revolutionaries, “books” include Mao and the Art of War.

He posts against perceived “authoritarian control” and states he would “rather die for a cause than live a life that is worthless”.  When Anonymous targeted Oakland officials in revenge for what they perceived as bad treatment of Occupiers in Oakland and released personal information on the internet on the officials, Chase’s comment was “Eat it dirty pigs!”  He notes his arrests at Occupy Miami and in D.C.. One of his Facebook friends asks him what is the purpose of Occupy, to which he responds, “Revolution, disent”[sic].

The two most striking comments include a threat against the Miami police:

Jared Chase

Miami has the most crooked cops in the country. We should execute them before they do something well regret.

Jared Chase was Facebook friends with Brent Betterly, one of the other suspects.

Brent Betterly’s Facebook avatar appears to be him wearing an Anonymous bandana:

Brent is “inspired by” Che Guevara and Guy Fawkes (the “Guy Fawkes” mask is the Anonymous trademark) and he is Facebook friends with Angela Davis, former FBI most wanted radical, Communist Party and Black Panther member. Brent was also arrested in DC at the same Occupy protest as Jared, noting:
the secret service shut down pennsylvania ave. lol guess obama was home. hopefully we made an impression. just got away with a 100 dollar fine which i have to figure out how to pay
He also noted in a post to fellow Occupy Fort Lauderdale members:
“i sincerely wish everyone in OFTL good luck but i just dont believe we should ever compromise. they may be able to bend and twist laws to suit their needs but we ALWAYS have the moral high ground. these corporations have manipulated the political process and used it to keep us underfoot for so long. THEY work around the clock to figure out ways to pillage and plunder and beat the average American down. and now we have to fight to put up a fucking tent and and protest?? We as citizens have to stand against being pushed around at some point or we will never break free from oppression. THEY never compromise and niether should we.”
Update:
According to the Chicago Sun Times, Betterly is reported to be facing felony charges in Broward County Florida for allegedly breaking into a high school and having a tequila fueled pool party.  They also damaged the property with stolen fire extinguishers.

Chase was convicted of theft in Dade County Florida in January. Chicago Sun Times has also reported that on one music site, a blogger identified as Jared Chase of Keene, N.H., tells a rapper: “I hope you got kids or a wife so I can cut there[sic] throat while they sleeping, and then rape them after there dead.”
