Occupy the Cayman Islands with fund raised money

Justin Wedes
Here’s a funny Occupy story, although perhaps it’s not funny in the way Occupy would like to think.
They had a recent fundraiser in NYC on October 2.
What was that fundraiser for? Was it for money for the poor? Helping someone save their home from foreclosure?
It was to send two Occupy members to the Cayman Islands.
Yes, that’s right. Send them to the Cayman Islands.
Well, what are they being sent to the Cayman Islands for? Negin Farsad and Lee Camp, two Occupy comedians are being sent there to “report on the infamous tax havens that Mitt Romney and other millionaires use”. They are also accompanied by Justin Wedes, a spokesperson for Occupy Wall St, who is the main voice @OccupyWallStNYC. It is unclear who is paying for him to be there.
Let’s look at some of the wonderful things they have discovered in the Cayman Islands so far:
This was the first place I looked for Romney's money for #OpCaymans - my feet did not detect anything. ow.ly/i/10uGj

Here's the view where I'm sitting right now. A perfect backdrop for hunting down tax dodgers.. #OpCaymans http://t.co/xV29iWht

A follower comments on their hard hitting investigation:
They must have found a pub....I mean a clue or something by now :-) #OpCaymans #wingingit

Here is a recording of their first day debriefing
It is gratifying that they have discovered that the Cayman Islands doesn’t have taxes and that people legally invest there.
Perhaps tomorrow they can report on the water temperature -oh wait, they already did that:
I'm in the Cayman Islands and the water is really warm. Thank you and good night.

Sweet deal if you can get it.

Wow, that’s a hard hitting piece of “journalism” there, buddy. Move over Woodward and Bernstein.

Welcome Occupy supporters! Yes, as hard hitting as their comedic investigation into tax havens.

Using occupy funds to travel to a tax haven where the super rich are hiding assets and reporting on what they find is a problem in what way for you? I don’t think Negin, Lee & Justin were the ones who created tropical tax havens. I suppose you’d like it better if Romney’s tax haven was in Siberia. But the, Romney and the other people paying 13 % taxes might object. You are purporting to be a citizen ‘ journalist’. Just remember that nobody is going to take what you write seriously if your reportage is opinion and assumptions, not facts. You might have wanted to actually interview these three before writing this ‘article’ and then you wouldn’t look like such an ass.

Really….? Where do you do your due diligence? This story is completely incorrect. The Occupy members that were there were attending Dennis Trainor Jr.’s opening of “Occu-Doc” … did you know? Dr Flowers and Kevin Z , as well as Lee Camp were all there in support of the occumentary opening. No non integrity funds were raised. Geeze doud, get some due diligence if you’re going to be a ‘citizen journalist’… you sound and publish just like MSM … Fox.

It is not incorrect in any way. I linked to the fund raiser, which link spoke about the Occu Doc. The link, by Lee Camp, specifically called it a fundraiser to send him and Farsad to the Caymans.
You simply don’t like that questions are raised about it.
“No non integrity funds were raised” . Sound like a politician caught in a trap.

I continue to appreciate the work you do in exposing the hypocrisy and motivations of those involved with the Occupy movement. If only all Americans would be as hard working and dedicated to this country, we wouldn’t be in the position we are in. (Not to mention those unemployed Occupiers would have a much easier time finding jobs.) Thank you for all the work you do.

You’re welcome.
